    Matty,
sounds like you are following the same line I was taking, trying to find where all the oil was coming from. Basically here is what I did...
    1. seriously wash everything, degreaser etc etc
    2. wipe over every surface to ensure it was clean
    3. park over a drop sheet (I used a large piece of lino, so that I could easily see and clean up any deposits
    4. when a deposit was noticed, get under and 'trace' the source ... mine was sump
    5. run motor for a few minutes, or go for a drive around the block, and park over the clean drop sheet, get under and look for evidence of leaking oil.

When driving the oil seems to get flung about a bit by air movement, but when stationary, just runs down hill, so much easier to trace

    Good luck

Thats the best method. Problem with the oil on the bell housing is it can be from a few different places forward of this and the oil drips and blows back onto the bell housing as you drive.

As above, give everything a good clean and then check thoroughly. Get some ramps so you have space to lie under the car and get a good torch and check everywhere. Clean anything with oil on it and then drive around for a bit and check again.

Those oil lines are well known for leaks, my oil pump was leaking badly before I blew the engine and Bruce davis bolted a new on on for me.

Take the oil lines off and take them to pirtek or enzed or some other hydraulic place and have them made up to match, they will reuse the fittings.

I did mine in 2005 and they havent leaked a drop since, and it was cheaper than buying Land Rover hoses which no doubt would have leaked 2 years later.

As for the sump, if you can get to each bolt just check that they are all tight, dont over tighten them, but give each one a tweek, that might be all that is needed if the sump gasket is weaping.
