    G'day All,
I'm convinced my problem is valve train related. When I first bought the Disco it hadn't been run for some time, and there was a noisy[sticky]lifter on startup. I followed the directions on a bottle of lifter freeing stuff with the last oilchange and it is much quieter to the point I cannot hear it at cold startup at all. On the way home from work today on the motorway I put the boot in and the popping noise came, went, came back and went again. Every time the noise was present I could feel a misfire and the engine lost power. Interestingly, the popping noise is all but gone at lower engine speeds and loads. Maybe whatever is sticking is freeing up with use?

As far as fixing it myself, I wish I could but due to work injuries and restrictions that's out of the question. I even struggle doing an oil change! KLR Automotive at Kingswood have quoted $1.5 to $2K to fit a 3.5 cam[better breathing & torque?]drive in/drive out.

It's going in for a compression test on Wednesday and I'm sure it will show a crook cylinder at least. If it needs a cam, I'll have to wait until I've saved enough to have it done. I'm still driving it every day to work etc.

    Cheers Will.
