Boge shocks
Hi all
Has anyone had much to do with Boge shocks?.I am about to replace the original Land Rover shocks on the 98 Discovery and will still be running the original springs which have only dropped 15mm.I don't use the vehicle for anything other than a bit of beach work so I wont be raising the ride height or installing heavier springs in the near future.
From what I have read on the net they are a good replacement for OEM gear and wont sacrifice on the comfortable on road ride. They seem to be decent quality from ZF in Germany and the price is pretty good ($150 pair plus postage).I know a set of Koni's etc would be the go but like most of us out there $$$ generally limit what we can do.
Hope someone out there can provide a bit of guidance.
Thanks

Thanks for the responses everyone.
I fitted a up set of Boge automatics front and rear last weekend and gave it a run up on Stockton Beach. In a few words very happy with the on road ride and even happier with how they handled the beach. The ride on road is much more comfortable even though it is now slightly firmer in the front end all of the side to side pitch has gone and it soaks up the bumps so much better.
On the beach they got a solid workout crossing the usual deep wheel ruts and washouts left from high tide.I didn't notice any signs of fade etc and the improvement in comfort and handling was really impressive.
Whilst I cant compare them to the Bilstiens I would go so far as to say they are great value for money. For anyone who is just looking for a top value and top quality replacement for a standard set up they seem to be the goods.
Whilst its early days yet they are made in Germany by ZF so i don't foresee long term quality being an issue.
Price for the 4 was $359.00 from a 4x4 spares supplier in Newcastle .

Spring Drop
98Discovery, How'd you work out the springs have dropped 15mm? I am looking to replace Shockies on my 96 Disco. I am wondering wether I should be going the extra mile and do the springs as well.

Hi DreamofaRangeRover
I took some measurements from info that I found on a thread somewhere on the site.As I recall the distance was measured from the centre of the hub to the bottom lip of the guard.Sorry i cant remember what the numbers were but if you have a look around they shouldnt be too hard to find.
