15" tyres seem to use the imperial measurements where 16",17",18" etc use metric. I don't exactly no why, probably because 15" go back along way. Imperial gives the actual tyre diameter and width in inches where metric gives width and profile to work out the diameter. 33" tyre is equivalent to 285/75R16.
