    Warped heads... machine cost?

    Hi guys,

    Did the heads on the old 3.9. Makes for a pretty average week. Pulled them out and ran a straight edge over them and they are warped about .5

    Im hoping they arent cracked and am thinking i will just get them machined. Anyone know the approximate cost? I think they should be around $50-80 each but am not too sure. Should i get them crack tested at the same time?

    Anyone know any good people around cairns/north cairns for the job?

    Im thinking i will just sell the old girl if this doesnt work.

    Have you thought about getting the valves checked also?

    I've done all this recently and didnt think that part was too expensive,,

    I had my heads serviced including reseat valves, cut off inlet guides, and mill 50 thou for $400 all up for the pair about 6years ago.
    I cannot imagine it being much more unless the guides need reconditioning.

    Thinking that may be the go just to get everything running and going well. Did you already have the heads stripped and cleaned or did the mechanic do all of it?

    I took the heads to Brookvale Head Reconditioners. They stripped valves/springs and cleaned.
    You would be best not having a mechanic middleman involved IMHO.
