leaky front passenger footwell
Hey there.
I am starting to fix a little bit of floor rust on the passenger front floor and need to fix the leak I am getting that has caused the rust.There is a bead of water running down the left hand kick panel which I think is due to a leaky windscreen.I have looked at the water ingress info by Land Rover and they say the leaky windscreen is fixed by a bead of sealant inside the top seal only from corner to corner.Has anyone had experience with fixing a leak like this.Thanks in advance.

I'd be interested to find a soulution to this as well.
I tried the sealer along the top windscreen rubber and that did nothing.
I 've sealed all the pipes and wires going through the firewall.
Next option is to replace the windscreen that needs doing in any case.

Thanks for the feedback on doing the top rubber seal,I thought it sounded a bit easy to fix it properly.I also have thought about removing the windscreen and sealing it all,probably the best bet I think.I also have read that the plenum air intake at the base of the screen can be a problem.

I have the same problem but on the RHS, the corner of the windscreen rubber seems to be peeled/rolled back for whatever reason, and there is a nice rust hole on the kick panel about 6" up from the floor.
At first I thought it was the AC drains clogged up (and it was to a degree) so also check these.
Just for intrest sakes, I priced a windscreen rubber, which turns out to be about $700 beans!!!

geeeez,that's one expensive bit of rubber.The water on mine is running down the passenger kick panel right in line with the windscreen corner,no rust on kick panel thankfully.

I HAD the same problem, mine was coming from 3 places, all caused buy rust in the well section below the window 2 were very small rust holes right in the corner where the well meets the inner guard so to speak, and the other I had to take the plastic bit thats under the wiper arms off and the same well section had a rust hole ..all fixed by fabricating a patch from S Steel and 'Sicaflex" ing the patch in and over it all worked great ..this was only found buy pulling all the mats and under lay out {pain in butt} and hosing ..hope this helps Gary

Yeah same again best bet is to pull off the guard and check out the inner guard as mine had a couple of rust holes around the stiffener that runs horizontally .Looks like LR went to a lot of effort to engineer in water traps in this area just to make sure they kept the tradition of leaks alive and well.You can actually open the door and shine a torch through the gap to get a bit of an idea .Also get someone to run the hose at the bottom area of the windscreen whilst you look up into this area from the inside and you will see whats going on.
Honestly the easiest way to get some peace of mind is to pull off the guard otherwise you will do your head in chasing the leak every time it rains.

Cheers 98 discovery.I was thinking of removing the guard.I have already removed the inner plastic wheel arch trim to get a bit of a peak up into the inner guard.All looks good so far ( I have seen the inner guards very rusty on some cars )but will take off the guard over the weekend and look further.I am hoping it is just a seal problem though.Hoping to have a leak free car after my last 2 Rangie classics leaked quite badly.
