I just bought another Disco!
I've just bought a 1992 200tdi Discovery, to replace my 93 V8 model
I dont know much about the diesels, and want to replace all filters, oils, etc to establish a starting point for servicing, and to keep it as reliable as i can
So what things should i go over when i receive it?

Reliably told by my trusted mechanic up here in newmarket, brisbane that you should check the waste gate on the turbo. They can seize up if its hasn't been given enough gas from time to time. You can get in there with a large screwdriver and force it open to check that its not seized. also unbolt the rad at the top and rock it forward to check the front face. They can collect leaves and debris and get clogged pretty easily. Also worth checking the inside of the turbo hoses. Pretty common for them to delaminate and block flow inside but look fine from outside.

I would change all fluids, filters, belts and grease everything.
Do the 200tdi's have timing belt same as 300tdi's if so, check when last changed. 80k km intervals are recommended.
Fit low water alarm, check if it has black expansion tank if so, change to clear one and run best possible fuel. I only use BP ultimate diesel and had no issues.
Also, if you want more oomph, definately get d-gas. I often say it as I have had it fitted and its brilliant. Little cost, better economy, more range and big improvement in performance.
