    D1 replacement central locking unit

    Hi All,
I have a 1997 Disco series 1, I want to get an additional central locking unit as I like to have a spare under the vehicle ( I am notorious for losing keys). Are they available non genuine and do they have to be set up by a Land Rover dealer?
    Thanks,
    Lee

I don't think non-genuine are available but getting one via eBay is a cheap option.

Make sure you get the right remote - you should have a 315MHz alarm system.

    Can used units be re-programed

    Hi Scott,
Can I pull a remote fob from a wreck and have reprogrammed?
Thanks for your advice to date.
    Regards,

Yes, as long as it's intact internally, but they'll still be a few bob. New part is YWX 101230 315 MHz. Cost in Oz is about $180. But remember that eBay is your friend - try this one, for instance, www.4wheeln.net

That's excellent news I can use the one I have from a wreck. No more finding the hole in the dark
