    intermittent misfire?

    Hi guys,

I seem to have developed an intermittent misfire over the last few days (cold related?). I've just changed the sparks so can rule that out (the old ones all had same level of carbon on them) so I'm starting to think my injectors may need cleaning/replacing. The car is a V8 with 161K on the clock (1994). If these seem ok, I'll then look at dizzy cap etc... Any recommendations for HT leads? I've looked in searches to find some suggest the Bosch dizzy where as others say the Lucas. Which do you reckon I should go for?

    Any other ideas?

I've searched for intermittent misfire but only 1 thread is found.

    Cheers,

    Phil

the thermostats fail and the engine runs rich because the ecu stays in warmup mode (pulls the choke out). replace the thermostat and make sure it is good quality, 88degC (88 is very important) and do not drill any extra holes in it. to check all is well use a thermometer on the top hose outlet or top of radiator and check imediately after a road test for a temp between 88 and 96 degC. the dashboard gauge is not goog enough.
