Disconnected vacuum hoses... I think ?

Hi guys, first time here after purchasing a 98 Disco V8 Auto on gas/petrol with 170k to the dial.

Anyway, I knew before buying I would have some things to look and one problem is the Cruise. While reading through the various posts regarding C/C I headed off in search of ways to fix the problem.

Traced the main vacuum from the firewall over to the 'T' piece behind the washer bottle and....well it's like this.. it just sitting there with a hose dangling from the bottom 'T' and going nowhere, nothing off the other side of the 'T' and a hose coming up from the top rear of the rocker cover and just sitting near the 'T' piece just doing nothing as well. Does anyone know what the heck is happening here?

that main line you found through the fire wall goes to a switch on the brake pedal.

the other end with the t-piece,
one end should connect to the large black round vacum control at the plentium,
the other end connects to the vacum pump which is located under where the battery would be if it was on the passenger side.

the old vac lines are probably still there, they tend to perish and fall off the t-piece, its best to replace all the vac lines.

Thank you RoverV8, I'll see what I can find when I get my car back this afternoon from the local mechanic. It's having it's 170k service and will be interesting if he picks it up. I've since found out via this forum there's a LR service mech at Romsey which is only 15mins down the road and he's pretty good from what I've heard

Well I have my disco back from the mech and unfortunately he didn't pick up on the loose hoses, which i did place rather obviously over the washer bottle tank.

Anyway I'm going to have a look at what is where and what is not and post some pics as to what I have. On a side note he did tell me this is one of the better Disco's he's seen in some time. Sure it has some of the usual 'War Wound leaks' for a car this age but on the whole its in very good condition and should offer many hours of driving pleasure.
