    auto trans dip stick

I have finally got my 94 Disco running after buying it 3 months ago with a cooked motor.I have put a 97 3.9 import motor in it with only 70,000kms on it and I have it running really sweet so am very happy.I am servicing the whole car before I take it for a drive and have a question regarding the auto transmission dip stick.I just want to make sure the right stick is in it.I had a Rangie classic with a 97 Disco 3.9 with the ZF auto and the auto dip stick is different and it is a few inches shorter so I started wondering if it may have been changed.I have measured the one in my new car and the length of it from the bottom of the handle where it seats onto the filler tube is 690mm and it is a straight stick with 2 holes in it for the fluid level and the ZF in the Rangie has a twist in the bottom part of it.I just don't want to have the wrong amount of fluid in it.Any help is appreciated.
    Cheers
    Shane

    Hi Shane,
I have a 96 Disco 300 Tdi with a ZF auto, the dipstick from the part that sits on top of the tube to a small resin blob at the end of the stick is 765 mm (ish) long, mine also has the two holes in it and no twist, a straight dipstick.
