you boosters leaking OR your flex lines are swelling, have someone pump up and hold the brakes on while you eye the flex lines while they start it up.
if the line flexes or swells its time to replac ethe lines.
Hi there,
Noticed the disco has spongy brakes after bleeding the system in the correct order (twice just to make sure). There were no air bubbles visible but the previous master cylinder cap was cracked before I replaced it. Could there be water in the system or would the seals in the master cylinder be the culprit? One thing I noticed was that the breaks feel perfect after bleeding until you turn the engine on and they become spongy again?? Usually a few pumps of the pedal removes the spongieness but would still like to fix the problem.
Thanks
Jim

Hi Jim,
Interesting, I had spongy brakes, same deal, bled them a couple of times etc, I didn't check my flex lines as mentioned, I was then assuming that this was another Land Rover trait. Mines a 1996 300Tdi not sure what yours is. Anyway the vacuum pump had an oil leak which I didn't really connect with the spongy brake issue, the oil leak is a common fault by all accounts. Anyway I've replaced the vacuum pump and the brakes are a whole lot better, plus I don't have an oil leak any more.
Don't get me wrong the booster could also be a problem, just something I found. I'm going to be checking my booster as well based on what was mentioned above.
