Thread: 98 Disco (300TDi)

Just thought that i would give a little update on my 98 Disco.
its now got new rings, head been shaved new alternator and a couple of bits and peices. Its still blowing a bit of smoke on decelerate. told that it might blow a bit of smoke on run in period.

Well done on the rebuild, sounds good, I think the person who told you the smoke might disappear after or during the running in period is the eternal optimist. When you had the head shaved did you take the valves out and check for wear in the guides? At worst did you replace the valve stem seals? I'm not sure about the history of this rebuild I'm just commenting on the result, how many klms had the engine done prior to the rebuild? A lot?
I hope the smoke does disappear and everything turns out OK, depending on the colour of the smoke might determine where it's coming from, white is usually brake fluid, I would fine this unusual considering the system on a 300Tdi.
