Ben, I can't help with the heater but I will refer you to this page which shows you how to replace it more easily than the workshop manual method:
Heater core 1997 Disco.. DIY or Workshop ?
Just bought a pile of parts from Paddocks, but they said they don't stock the heater matrix. Where can I get one for a reasonable price?

Seem to remember getting mine from Gary at CLR (through flea bay)
G'day Isuzurover
I got one sent from L. R. Series - specialists in land rover, land rover series and range rover - gearbox, axle, transmission parts, spares and major units in U.K. All 4x4 at Kotara wanted $280 and LR sent one for $125 incl. freight but there's a considerable difference in quality. The cheaper one is much lighter but I feel it'll probably see me out. I did post before that I cut the pipes to get the old one out and added a length of rubber to make the replacement easy. True blues don't reccommend that procedure.
