jobs?
Hi all,
The other half was moaning that jobs on the disco were taking longer than I claimed they would so was pestering me to get a new car. So i decided instead of spending 50k on a new car I'd get my Disco sorted at the garage. I don't know when my Timing belt/chain was last done so I intend to get it looked at. It is currently having its swivel hubs and bearings done (it's giving him major grief aswell! lol) but what else do you recon I should have done?
I'm having no issues with it except the "check engine" light comes on for a fraction of a second as the revs die but then is fine again. I can sort it with a fiddle with the HT leads so I assume its a bad contact.
It's a v8 with 162k on the clock built March '94.
Cheers

hells bells Fev how long is a piece of string
I would suggest having it gone over by a reputable landy mechanic to find any issues you could have looming and give it a major service including all oils, brake fluid, gearbox oil/fluid, flush the coolant and replace, pull the wheel bearings clean and regrease. While your at it get the compression tested.
the full monty at least that way you are sort of starting from a clean slate
It might cost a grand or less hopefully but then you will have a clear picture of what state she is in.

Most of that has been done. Compression test is a good point tho.
Had it about 15 months and been well serviced including zf. new radiator and hoses, heater core etc... New dizzy cap and rotor, new ignition module
It has the standard oil leaks but I'm replacing the dodgy hose next time I service her.

Just back from mechanic and he says nothing to do, all is good!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only issue is that after reconnecting the battery, the abs light stays on. It went off once but is now back on. Any Ideas? He has told me to take it back on Monday f t s still on as he's looked at it and the abs is fine.
