Ok if he is doing Transmission all oils and filters plugs, belts etc and running diagnostics.
    $200 for parts?
    $120 for Oils?
    Labour per hour $?

$400 would be a better price but it depends on what he is going to do

Yup, would think that is near the top end of the price range.

BUT - it does depend on what is being done. If that is a FULL service & tune, then it could be about right.

However, if it is a standard service, and only doing the engine oils & filters, then it is over the top.

A good mechanic should be willing to tell you what you are getting for the money. So, it might pay to ring around.

thats assuming that they actually do all of that stuff....

do you know (or know someone who can)how to check all of that stuff's been done? or how to premark stuff thats ment to be moved for checking?

if you think the price is suspect, get a prewritten list of what they are intending to do on the service and then setup your witness marks. make sure you get them to return to you or allow you to inspect anything they replace.

there are days I hate "mechanics"
