    simple?

    Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could advise me on 3 issues I have (all small but looking to do something about them)

    1. The rear door central locking is temperamental. Am I right in assuming this is just the spring that needs replacing in the lock mech or is it more sinister?

    2. My indicators have stopped flashing when the car is locked or unlocked which is of no real importance but today, the immobilizer failed to turn off so I had to relock etc... until the car would start. Any idea with the immob?

    3. On the rear drivers and pass doors, the metal vertical strip which separates the fixed glass from the rest of the window has started to rust badly at the bottom, is it replaceable and is this an easy job?

    Thanks all

    Phil

    1. I'd try the springs first. like $10 off ebay, then dig deeper if that doesn't fix it..

If the rear central locking isnt popping up high enough then its the spring which is an easy DIY, If it just fails to work on occasion then it could be the central locking mech which is also not that hard to replace but $$ im not sure on but ebay is a great source for cheap parts.

3.Its available as a genuine part. Whilst it is apart repaint the components that show above the door. I just had both mine done.

    Thanks all,

will do the springs this weekend and look into the window "bars"?

Whilst I think on, how often should I change the diff oil? I check/top it up every 6 months or so when I service the beast but was thinking this time of dropping it all and replacing it.

Also, last time I did the oil, the copper washer was reuasable but I'm going to replace this time. Can anyone tell me the size I need?

    Many thanks

    3) undo the srews either end of the door and the frame will lift out, then just repaint before re fitting or get it powder coated.

    Thanks loanrangie,

As a quick fix for the immobiliser, is there a way to disable it?

    Cheers

Base models have bridging plugs in various places when no immobiliser is fitted. All the details are in the RAVE wiring diagrams. The immobiliser provides earth paths for relays of items it switches off, so providing a new earth to the ignition and start relays should see you going. I worked it all out once, can't remember the exact details now.

    Simple, but fiddly...

Rear door lock mech full of dirt, actuator on the way out, lock return spring busted. When you attempt the door lock, take a photo at each step to show you how to put the ^&%^&% of a thing back together.

Check RAVE for the elec piccies to work out the immob prob.

    Non flashing indicators

If the indicators stop flashing as you lock the car it's an indication of low battery in the handset / Key fob (Unless my memory is completly off).

To change the battery; open the fob, remove the battery, depress a key for a few seconds to drain the electrics and then refit with a fresh CR2032 battery.
