    Windscreen moldings

I am currently returning my 97 Disco to road worthy contidion, and the last thing on my list is a windscreen. I've been quotes $200 odd for the screen but another $350 odd for moldings which are apparently distroyed in the changing. I have heard this story before so assume it is true (the last time I had a screen done it was insured so I don't know what the cost was) Dose anyone know of another (cheaper) option?

    Cheers
    Cameron

The bigger companies all say that, but the smaller (and more knowledgeable) operators who do Disco's can do the job re using the originals. Keep ringing around. The guy who did mine last year ( does south west Brisbane metro) Platinum (Alex) 0450 425 816.
Make sure it's a dry day when you do it - high humidity interferes with the bonding.

The other option I have come up with is buying Ex UK (Sorry Mr H. Norman) but will ring around as suggested.

    Cheers guys!

Mate, which ever way you go, I'd be hanging around like a bad smell whilst they do it. I've just finished wrecking a '98 Disco due to a bodgey windscreen repair completed some years ago. They didn't use a factory seal and just lathered the thing in sikaflex. Sounds the go but it allowed moisture around the frame which ended up in structural corrosion down the A pillar and roof (between the top of the screen and roof). It ended up being beyond repair and a write off.

Don't want to scare you, but it's very important the job is done right with the correct parts.

    Matt.

PS. I hate being watched over my shoulder too, but this crap job stuffed my car.
