Does anyone know if its a big job to instal a set of roof rails to a D1? Is it a case of remove the roof lining and drill a couple of holes where existing brackets might be or would I have to locate the holes myself?
Thanks

I've never seen much point in the roof rails, and would think that using a roof-rack would be the better way to go.
What advantage do you see in these rails ?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

The holes are in the inner frame. You will need to pull the lining down enough to drill a small pilot hole through the outer roof from inside through the main hole then using a hole saw drill the main holes through the outer roof from the outside.

Ditto.
All my D2 ones do is add some wind noise.

Just removed my d2 ones if your looking for some.![]()
My Disco's getting in need of a bit of a birthday and I'm thinking of getting the exterior detailed and possibly the roof repainted as it's very faded. I always thought the proportions of the D1s just looked a bit wrong without roof rails so was just wondering what was involved with fitting them, that's all.
And thanks for the tips, Garry.
They were on my car as standard and they are great for light stuff as when you have nothing up there you just remove the spring loaded rails and viola no wind noise. When my roof top tent and fast verandah are up there on my other heavy duty racks the wind noise, extra fuel is a pain, so when I am not using these the whole lot comes off as one and I still have the originals for the general light load pick up if need. JMHO.
And yes I agree that the D1 does not look right with out them.
