    Rusty A-Pillar

    Hi,

Got myself a 300 Tdi a few months ago and I've noticed a bit of rust on the a-pillar (the bit between the drivers door and the windscreen). I'm not sure how to go about getting this fixed but was hoping that some one on here might have some suggestions. I'm living in Sydney so any rust repair recommendations would be welcome

    Thanks,

    Christopher

I've got the same problem. In fact I'm having mine fixed tomorrow by a repair shop. Fortunately I seem to have got around to getting it fixed before it got so bad as to require a windscreen removal. I'll let you know the damage (in $) if you like.

I got mine done professionally, along with the floor and one of the alpine windows.

Yeah the whole bog thing is what I am trying to avoid, went to one place and that is what it sounded like they were offering and they only wanted $600 for the pleasure!!

Mine is looking good. It's been a while now. They seem to have done a good job. I am sure you could find someone down your way but if not I can PM the details of the people who did my work.

    Hobospy

It ended up costing $250 today. Had the alpine windows rust removed plus full roof and bonnet cut back respray a couple of years ago by the same guy for $1400.

Mine only cost $600 and he took photos of the job as he went and allowed me to come and check it out. All welded new steel and only a fine skim of bog to finish it before paint. Just ask them how they intend to repair it. Ask for stage by stage photos and if you can inspect as they progress. If they won't then I wouldn't use them. An honest panel shop should be happy to show off their handy work
