    Weathershields

Has anyone fitted weathershields to the D1 windows?
I was looking at these and see that there are two versions and one is a slimline version. I want to be able to drive with the windows down and reduce wind noise when not using the A/C.
The ones sold at Karcraft are BA2065 (slimline) and BA2065A and are made by Bearmach I believe. They cost around $130 a pair so just wondered if people find them useful and if they do significantly reduce wind noise when travelling at speed with the windows down.
    Cheers

    Hi Mark,
My large weathershield has fallen off the door on the Defender and I have been unable to find anyone who sells mounting kits (small clips and fastners).
I had a look at these slimline ones and felt they are too small...I like to drive through the bush with the window open and the larger weathershield I am sure has saved my face a number of times when small branches have flicked across the window.

I fitted a set of "slimlines" to my neighbours Disco and he seems to be happy, though he doesn't go off-road, I have the full weathershields fitted to my Disco and as David has stated they heep branches out of your eyes. One point I dont like is when they get dusty they are hard to see through and they do become scratched after a while.
David take a trip to a wrecking yard you will pick up some clips and screws there, also some doublble sided sticky tape will help hold them in place as well, Regards Frank.
P.S. When fitting slimlines to frame remove the rubber, fit the shield and replace the rubber, you will break them if you try to push them in past the rubbers.

Having had both, First the slimeline one then the large. I must say I prefer the larger ones as they keep a lot more wind out and the tree branches as previously mentioned. The slimline ones are held on by doublesided tape and after a few summers/offroading begin to peel off. at least the big ones use clips and screws and don't move at all.

To keep them looking new DON't use a broom or brush to clean them, use a sponge otherwise they will have scratch marks before you know it.
I remember paying about $90-$120 about 9yr ago from Landrover and still holding up well.

    Cheers

Do you screw these into the door frames?

So once you've done it, you can't remove them without there being holes left?

They are thin metal plates that slide in behind the door skin and a small screw and captive nut that acts like a G-clamp....no drilling holes

thanks for the replies guys, it sounds like the full size are the way to go but Karcraft didn't have those in stock. Any idea who sells the full size ones? i'm in Sydney.

I bought mine from Land Rover couple of years ago and they weren't actually that expensive its worth asking because a lot of this stuff goes cheap now because the cars are so old
