D1 Roof gutter Trim - advice wanted
Hi,
Can anyone advise if the black plastic trim that runs along the roof gutters serves a functional purpose.
I had rust bubbling out from under the strip bottem (looks fine on top) eitherway ripped the strip off I was hoping to preserve it but it seems it went very brittle as it just broke into a dozen pieces
Good news is the rust doesn't look any where near as bad as I thought it did and it appears there is plenty of sound metal and I was just going to hit it with rust converter and then some anti rust paint from kbs but I'm not sure if I should leave the trim off or go get replacements from god knows where hoping someone like rovercraft carries them
Cheers
Rob

The black strip serves no real function, it's just for looks.
I got a price back in May from the Dealers: $31 each side, has to come over from the East.
This was for part number: AWR1030PMA Finisher, drip rail.
This is only the long straight bit on each side, not the little curved bit at the front or back, or the bit across the back.
