Anyone able to confirm that the minimum thickness on the solid front rotors on a Discovery is 13mm. The Haynes manual doesn't state it and after scratching the built up rust off the rotor I can't see it printed or stated anywhere on the rotor.
DBA recommended scrap thickness is 13mm front, 11.7 rear. This is off their wall chart. Most modern rotors I see have the minimum thickness marked on them somewhere.
AC Delco catalogue concurs - 13 mm front, 11.7 mm rear.

FWIW check out the Disc Brakes Australia website
www.dba.com.au
It lists both solid and vented for Disco 1 fronts... nominal thickness for front solid (their part number is DBA087) is 14mm, miniimum thickness 13mm.
I have found this website quite informative and accurate re. its specs over the years for several different makes/models.
Hope it helps!
cheers
EDIT while munching arvo tea did't see Bee Utey's post re. DBA![]()
I found it in the RAVE CD. It is 12mm. It was listed under front axel, not brake components. I got the micrometer on them and they're around 11.6mm, so I'll change them.
I had original rotors changed on my 98 disco a year ago after the mechanic nearly had a heart attack when he measured them at, wait for it, 7 mm!!!

For the information of anyone reading this in the future considering changing their rotors, make sure you have a 52mm or 2 1/16" socket that is at least 55mm deep.
I don't, my 3/4" set only goes up to 50mm or 2" and currently having a hard time finding a shop that has one in stock!
and people worry about new cars,,
undo the wheel nuts on the D2 and the rotor falls off
but the pads are harder to change![]()
