    Tekonsha P3 EBC Mounting position?

    Hi Guys,
Just purchased a Tekonsha P3 EBC and was wondering where the best place to mount it is.. Where is yours mounted? I think that I would clash my knee if mounted under the steering wheel...
    Thanks

    Hi Chookie,
I've got mine mounted to the left of the steering wheel and its been fine and I don't recall hitting my knee on it (i'm 5'11). Its handy to have it within reach as I like to use the manual control on steep declines as my Disco's brakes tend to overheat when I'm towing down really steep declines and the trailer brakes really help.
    Cheers

Chookie, mounted my Tekonsha p3 up high on the dash, between the instument pod & the A pillar. Fits very neatly.
Im 5'9 & smacked my knee everytime on the original mounting whist depressing the clutch, which was down lower on the left.
    Cheers Dean.

Hi I fitted mine the same place as Dean ..I made a small Alloy wedge from plate, and that keeps to control level and theres enough room to push the wires down the right side of the dash etc..I used double sided tape to secure the bracket to the dash and the unit to the bracket ..works great ..Gary

Thanks for the replies... I ended up mounting on top of the dash to right of the binnacle - had to replace the provided screws with some thumb-screws from an old mobile phone car kit speaker into the side of the controller so I have the option of removing it from the bracket. Wrapped the wires form the back of the unit in split wrap tubing. Fits neatly and is easy to read. The troubleshooting menu has already done it's job with the Brake pedal switch disintegrating just prior to the maiden trip.. Good 'ol Lucas Lord of Darkness is never far away..
    Cheers,

Hey Discomark.. I think you can get away with it in that location because yours is an Auto.. There was no way I could place it where you have it with a clutch pedal.. BTW what is the red LCD panel above the EBC?

Yeah I forgot to ask if yours was an auto and your right it would be a different story if you have a clutch to press.
the LCD panel is for EGT and I fitted this after tweaking the fuel pump.

Somewhat unrelated to the topic but from the thumbnail, just above the tekonsha unit where the blank switches would be , what have you installed there (battery monitor?) and where did the surround come from? Created by you or is it readily available

Hi, The display is for EGT monitoring as I tweaked the fuel pump. I just cut a hole in the ashtray using a dremel to mount the display. The ashtray & blank switch panel can be swapped around to allow this, actually I can't remember which side the ashtray was originally on as I've never used it, would have been on the right though for a RHD car you would think so maybe someone already swapped yours around if you have the blank plate there.
    Cheers
