Have you ever replaced the bulb which illuminates the screen? Mine was easy to read - but it was a 95 update D1.
i am wondering if any one out there have a better idea for a clock other than the standard issue on a 1994/5 300TDi?
the original one is so dim i can hardly read it in the daylight and just read it at night. it is rather annoying especially as i have to put glasses on to try and read it otherwise, not good when driving.
does the early series 1 disco have a better clock or is there an after market one that can be adapted?

yep did that early on in the piece made no difference except to lighten my wallet by $11, bugger.
mines an update as well
I replaced mine with an LED globe. It was much brighter than the standard incanescent globe and now the clock os nice and easy to read at night.

The Range Rover Classic soft dash analogue clock drops right in and looks vastly superior - you can get them from the UK. Or you can do what I did and use an early (1978 -) Holden Commodore quartz analogue clock from the wreckers which fits ok and also looks much better.
is that the VL commadore? i have one of those laying around here somewhere as it is a perfect fit and match for the Austin 1800 MK 2 (had 1)Or you can do what I did and use an early (1978 -) Holden Commodore quartz analogue clock from the wreckers
i was more after a LED type digital clock you can read from 15ft away rather than the LCD one i have now which even in daylight you have to nod and bob you head to get the right angle to read it at all.
were is a good place to get a LED light to fit the back of the case as previously suggested?
all else fails i will use the analoge device i have here in the black hole![]()
There must be something wrong with your clock to not be able to read it easily.
When the globe goes they are very hard to read during the day and impossible at night.
Replacing the globe should make it very easy to read day or night under any light conditions, mine certainly is.
When you replaced the globe, did it instantly brighten up or make no difference at all?
Sounds to me like your globe isn't lighting at all, even though its been replaced.
mmmm food for thought there , it stayed the same and i thought it was working, might have to go back and double check to see if it is.When the globe goes they are very hard to read during the day and impossible at night.

just thinking i can read it better at night than the in the daylight thats why i was after an LED replacement rather than LCD similar to the one i had in the '85 Nissan Patrol, '83 Ford Laser.
thanks for the suggestions
