I've put on defendr calipers and the results are fantastic. I ran the second line from the bleed nipple of the first caliper and they seem fine. stops on a dime now. Iput on the vented bigger ones on.

Do they bolt straight on or was there any mods required?

They bolt straight on but you need to re plumb the brake line as mine had 2 ports on the calipers. I plumbed a line from the top bleed nipple to the other port and it worked well

    Thanks for your help.
    Shepherd.
TRA were rather negative about it all to be honest so I have cooled on using them.

I haven't done it yet just chasing up all the info, knowledge and cost before I start.

MA suffix discos have one front brake line LA suffix have 2, if you have a LA then you will need a MA master cylinder, proportioning valve and the lines and of course you need the defa calipers. This is needed to make it look factory fitted.

UK prices are very cheap - UK much cheaper than new, than second hand here just waiting on email to find out freight prices

    G'Day Blitz,

Thought I'd follow up and see how you went with pricing on Defender calipers and whether you've fitted them or not yet?

    Cheers,

Can Defer calipers to suit vented discs be used on ABS model D1s?

    Cheers,

    Hey Rez
The old girl is close to being neglected lately, the best I am doing at the moment is giving it a quick run once a week so the battery doesn't go flat.

I probably won't get to it until near the end of the year unfortunately because of work load.

    Stopping a 300 tdi

I have to plan all my braking actions on my 1995 300 tdi auto.

Its worse for the auto as the engine is trying to push you forward whilst you are standing on the brake.

I find it quite worrying even if I do have to leave additional space.

Its the unplanned for emergencies I worry about.

I don't want to spend a fortune but would like to improve the brakes. I am fairly sure the pistons and booster are all working fine.

I once put metal pads in a Ford automatic waggon and it stopped on a dime but the down side was it chewed through rotors on very steep hills.

    The next step.

I have a 97 Disco V8 auto non ABS with 31 inch tyres on 15 inch King wheels. I have checked my booster, replaced my rotors, pads and fitted braided brake lines.
Braking has improved but I would like a bit more bite.
If I go to Defender calipers:-
Are they the solid rotor ones from 1992 to 2010?
Do I still use the same rotors or are they larger?
Will the larger calipers still fit inside my 15 inch Rims?
Can the calipers I take off the front be used on the rear?

I see Terrain Vehicles in the UK has new ones for approximately $270 / pair freighted to Australia, is that a good price?

    Thanks in advance,
    Lee
