The 300TDi has recommended changes of timing belt every 60,000 to 80,000klms and it is usual to change the idler and tensioner pulleys at the same time, I don't know about the 200TDi, but if I find out I will get back to you, Regards Frank.
Has anyone any idea of the service life of the static and adjustable tensioners (or 'idlers') on the 200Tdi? I haven't come on a recommendation anywhere of when they should be changed, but presumably they have a finite life. I would rather not find out what it is. cmjay25, Geelong

I advise doing them with the timing belt...

I believe it's 80,000 km and I'd be changing the idler and tensioner bearings when doing the timing belt.
Thank you one and all. I'm happy to join the consensus, and changed the lot last weekend. Has dropped the general noise level to a noticable degree. Strange that the workshop manual doesn't specify this.
