Sparks jumpng from top of coil to both studs
The internal wire was not fully connected to the metal part/sleeve of the coil lead.
This sleeve was was corroded into the coil and I was not able to pull this sleeve out whilst still being connected to the lead.
I saw arcing between both studs and the centre of the coil.
So, I extracted the coil lead, and extracted the sleeve out of the coil.
Being Sunday PM, no shops were open to allow me to purchase a new lead.
So, I had to improvise and wrap a piece of light metal strip i found on the ground around the internal wire of the lead, plugged it back into the coil and it worked - without any arcing.
So, we had a win there at least until we can get to the nearest auto shop tomorrow and buy a new coil lead.
Any recs on the type of coil lead I should be getting? (i.e.. electrical specs, brand, etc)?

You should be able to get a Bosch coil lead from a supercheep or similar store, but other brands will work OK. If you can't get a coil lead it isn't hard to modify a standard plug lead, make the plug end fit the coil and get a straight boot off another lead for the coil end.
