    Lockers

Had a detroit rear fitted a couple of days ago and if you want by far and away the biggest bang for your buck in 4wd-ability then get it done.

The difference really is amazing, a rutted hill climb that chewed out a uni joint a couple of weeks back and was completely insurmountable @ 38psi low locked was an absolute cakewalk under the same conditions.

Another track that has always been 3rd low locked @ 38psi was easily done in 2nd high open.

Really looking forward to getting away for a weekend and giving it a proper workout.

And yes I know I shouldn't be 4wding @ 38psi, it's just a couple of tracks off the side of the road on the way home to keep the transfer case in use once a week. Would be a breeze in 4H @ 15lb.

Really can't believe the difference it makes.

I'd have to agree also. I have had Detroit lockers in 3 of my previous vehicles, one a comp truck. They are unbreakable and make a HUGE difference.

Not sure on one for the front though Nicho, unless it was an air locker that can be turned off or an LSD. A full locker in the front makes steering on par with the Titanics turning circle!

Both the tracks mentioned above are soft sand, makes a huge difference. Where the track is chewed out and you're lifting a wheel is when they really shine.

where did you get it from?, who stock them in Australia?, how much?

Also how do you go driving on the black top, notice and changes?

I had a lokka from 4wd sys in my Pajero which is similar but as it wasnt a constant 4 i could turn it of via transfer case.

Detroit Lockers are supposed to unlock when turning, they only lock in a straight line, I had Detroits front and rear in my Ford F100 4WD and never had a problem with the front hubs locked in, Regards Frank.

yeah but the disco is constantly locked in, you can get the same 2wd systme they use on the 80 series l'cruiser which is very expensive dosnt save that much fuel anyway. no point IMOO, keep it constant and get a air locker or lsd,
