IIFC Detroits are activated by torque, not rotation. If your mid turn and put on the power they will lock!

LSD'd will free whilst turning until the difference in rotation becomes to great and then they lock - hence limited slip.

I had a locker in the front of my 40 series and had to replace it with an LSD as the steering becamse so heavy it was almost unusable.

The only thing to remeber with The Detroit Locker is BOTH tyres need to be the same diameter, even lower tyre pressures left to right will cause some interesting steering/ handling problems

I had one in the back of the RRC Sals for 150K and it is amazing for towing, rocks, sand; anything. Just about to fit up a Trutrack LSD to the front in the 110 so will have the Detroit rear and LSD front...

I have the Detroit in the rear and Truetrac in the front of my D1. You would not even know they are there. The only noticeable thing I have is the steering self centers easier which help the car to track better. I have towed my camper on and off road with no noticeable difference. Even off road you don't know there there, you just have so much more traction and a lot less wheel spin. I have followed others with open diffs in the same car as mine using momentum and a lot speed and wheel spin to get up sections that I just walk up.

I agree they are good bang for your Buck.
    Cheers, David.

How many of you whom have a Locker fitted also run upgraded axles?

That was one of the main reasons I went TrueTracs all round instead of a Locker in the rear.
