D1 and D2 bullbar mountings
Can anyone explain why Bullbars for Di and D2 models are different? All manufacturers list them as different items but just how different are they? I'm looking for a D1 winch bullbar, preferably a TJM. There aren't many about but there seems to be more for D2s. Is it just a case of redrilling a couple of holes or is there more to it?
Cheers

Gromit, I asked the same question a few weeks ago. The answer I got was that the chassis rails are a different size, and a different width apart.
Not an insurmountable problem if you're handy with a welder, but not a straight bolt on fit.

Gromit,
Finally found my original thread http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...rail-size.html
And as it shows, the differences are not big, just 10mm here and there.

That is extremely helpful of you and should ensure I don't fall into the trap you did. Did you manage to pass on your D2 bullbar? If not, I noticed a guy on www.allclassifieds.com.au was looking for one. look here Bullbar Discovery 2 Arb Or Tjm - Body - Higgins ACT | allclassifieds
good luck

Gromit,
Thanks, but I ended up giving it back to the guy I got it from, and found another one the same day.
The one I got was in "average" condition to say the least, but at least I have somewhere to hang my Aldi winch now

Living up to your name then "sheerluck" how did you find one so quick? I've been scouring the classifieds and ebay for one for ages, mind you I do need an airbag compatible one which seems to be a bit rare on D1s. Mine is 97 and the airbags seem to have been optional until the D2 came along.

Yes, they are becoming difficult to find. My 98 D1 is non-airbag, so I'm not as limited as you are with choice.
You might be better off having a ring round the specialist LR breakers and mechanics, such as MR Automotive, TRS Adelaide, British Off Road Sunshine Coast. May be a few more dollars than ebay, but it will be easier to secure one, I'm sure.
