    Possible engine conversion

    Hi all,

Been thinking about putting a new heart into my Disco 1, currently running the 3.9, still thinking I would like another V8 and would still like to keep the auto but would like a bit more power, is there any popular conversion engines for these, ie; 304 holden, 5 litre injected ford ?

Anything else that would be reasonably cheap and easy to access ?

There are tons of cheap engines that require many many $$$$ to connect, engineer and make reliable. IE there is no "cheap" conversion as a whole.

the cheapest conversion (but still not necessarily cheap) is to put a RR 4.6 into it. They are identical blocks externally therefore the easiest to do; Dreaming a Gen 7? small block 427 with a 6L80E behind it

Seriously the 4.6 makes quite a substancial difference without breaking anything further down the line, there are several on here who have made the comittment to fit a chev or ford motor to it and ulitmately with stronger axles etc etc it is probably a better job but it is also much much more expensive.

an inexpensive coiil upgrade is to do as Bee Utey has posted on here and that also makes a marked improvement

Hi there, I have had the same arguments with myself for a couple of years now. I have just made the decision last week and purchased a rover 4.4 from a P76. This engine in stock form produces an extra 10kw of power and 60nm of torque.

    Sorry guys typo
