If my Disco is a V8 it's been running well on diesel for the past five years.

    BTW, What's trolling.

Definately not a TD5 part - they are much cheaper!

td5 throttle is about 90pounds from a dealer in the Uk so thats not the same part

change the fuel filter, dismantle the fuel lines and blow them all back to tank or out.

pull the fuel cut solenoid and check it for contamination or any signs of metal particualte in the hole or on the needle.

you may also have the lift pump pushing air into the injector pump which means that you are potentially not far away from having a total failure to procede if the air leak gets worse and in a worst case scenario you may also wind up with a runaway engine if it leaks into the sump through the diaphragm.
Many thanks - I'll add this to the increasing list of further checks.

since when is it cheaper to take a part from AUS to the UK than it is to purchase it locally and if it was a 2004 labeled box then it'd probably be a td5 throttle pot.

this could be entertaining to follow along with OR..

Has AULRO surpassed the UK forums for landy knowledge and google placement?
Totally mad I agree. See the links above for the prices. I spent hours and hours searching before committing to buy.

I don't know about Google placement but AULRO is a damn fine site - better than all of the UK sites.

ok so refreshing myself on the eTDI300

you can pretty much rule out the speed sensor and infact all of the sensors as in base mode (which is with the ECU running in limp home emergancy mode) you should have a restricted fuel setting and injection setting but what you do have should be smooth. Failure of the vehicle speed sensor will also kill the speedo as both the ECU and the Speedo get their signal from the same unit on the same wire.

its still the same dumb as a post mechanical CAV pump at heart its just got a pacemaker fitted to it so it cant get all overenthusiastic and give the engine a coronary.

Assuming all the fuel lines and filters are ok (and a quick blat at full load full power followed by cracking the supply to the IP then the return and checking for bubbles is the quick way to do that) temporarily blank off the EGR gear or disconnect it and see what that does for you.

Still don't know what a troll is [/QUOTE]

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community

A complete misunderstanding in your case though ; )

You have a nice looking D1 and trailer setup. So still no separate road tax on a trailer in UK?
Over here we have to have a seperate registration $$$ and number plates which I always thought was a bit of a rip off considering you can't drive a trailer around on its own!

    Cheers

Many thanks. I've never heard of separate road tax for trailers. What a daft idea!

The filter was done during the initial investigation - need to check the lines though. The EGR was one of the first mods I did back in 06/07.

I went into London last night. Jumping into the LR from the tube in Richmond it was terrible. Really struggled to keep it moving. It might be a good idea if "it" fails altogether as we might be able to track it down that way.

    Thanks for your help.

I'm starting to put a shopping list of cheaper bits together, lift pump, etc before going for the expensive bits.

Booking it back into the garage after Christmas.

mate the opening diagnostics is all DIY stuff and can be done with just a shifter, screwdriver, a hoseclamp and a suitably sized length of hose. More than happy to talk you through it and save you some dollars. it could be as simple as a 0.03c rubber sealing ring gone
