Leaking fuel from vacuum on injector pump 300tdi

    Hi All,
    93 300tdi Disco, auto.

It is leaking diesel from the drain tube on the vacuum thingy on the outside of the injector pump. It looks like some sort of fuel flow controller, controlled by a vacuum pipe from the turbo.
I have taken it apart, but there are no obvious reasons why fuel is coming out of here.
    Any ideas?
It is also not running well (missing - sort of) but I don't know that it is related. I will take off the water trap first and have a look at it.
    Regards, Erik

    Boost compensator?

Sounds like what you're describing is the boost compensator and not that it'll help you very much Erik, but I've just melted the line running to the turbo!, see post elsewhere.
I hope if someone manages to give you the good oil that they might also give me a heads up on my issue to!

    Boost compensator diaphram chamber

    Thanks for that.

Yes it is the boost compensator diaphram. Does anyone know why it would have fuel leaking out of the dribble hose?

fuel leaking from there is not a cool thing. it means that the pump is in need of some overhaul work, If you're lucky just the oring that seals the compensation sense pin part 91 in this pic

and labled in the top right of this one

Thanks for the helpful diagram Dave,
If I pull that part out to have a look at the O ring am I going to destroy some intricate setting?

Thanks for the pic of the exploded view of the injector pump. I'm goinf to hijack this thread and say that I have a leak from the Distribuator head.

looks like there are a couple of o rings in there. any idea of part numbers or sizing of these o rings?

And where i could get some from?

I assume pulling this off will be no big deal but like Blknight has said it needs to be spotless.

if its only from the center plug (parts 129, 130/2 in the first diiagram no, thats easy, if its the main body o ring forget it, you can screw the pump playing with that if your not meticulously careful.

that said, it can also be the sealing ring on the cut off solenoid, the body seal to the "governor body" or the control arm. Respectively they are easy, you want to really know what you're doing and easy but fiddly to do if you have the modded pump.

There is a leak between the main body and the head so I assume it will be the main body o ring

But i guess I can change the center plug o ring and see how it goes. Do you know what size it is? and will a diesel place have them?

In my Defe the pump start leaking (due to diesel quality) and I find out the the service kit is very cheap (from the guys in Hobart) but labour is expensive.
New Bosh pump supplied anf fitted by the guys in Redcliffe cost me only $200 extra than sevicing the old one.
