    Cutting my rear guards. 😳

Hey guys again I'm working on my 97 disco and have fitted 33 12.5 15s ive cut a lot out of the front and with the lift that's ok. At the back It looks like I'll hit my door I'm not sure if it is possible to cut there or do I just need to extend the camel cut to the top of the wheel arch?

Nicho on here has posted quite a good series of photos and explanation regarding his camel cut.

I have no bloody idea how to search for it but it will give you some great information

Camel cuts only take a swipe up the back...

You need some flares from LR Automotive and start hacking the doors

Blitz, I didn't do a report on my gaurd cut but I can take some pics of my finished job. Mine is very rough because I did it before I looked too far into it. I used common sense and trial fitted my flares then cut into the arches to allow the flares to fit. The rear doors can be cut easily but if you don't want mud ingress you will need to either have a plate welded in (difficult when it comes to alloy) or do as I intend to do when time permits and fiberglass the gap. I personally wouldn't cut the doors unless you intend to fit flares and if that's the case don't do it until you purchase your flares, IMO unless your fantastic at metal fabrication it will look tacky. With bigger tyres 33's up you can't go wrong with flares. They give you more room for wider tyres and keep it legal to the extent of tyres not hanging outside the wheel arches.
Slowrover I think even with the camel cut and extending your cut to the top of the wheel arch you will still need to cut then front of the arch at the rear door or it will contact when flexing even a little bit with 33's

Slunnie definitely did put a post up about putting flares on his D2 again no idea how to find it but it was a really good series of photos and explanations.

While there is some differences between the D2 and the D1 the principles are the same just minor execution differences
