best way to work out sag is to measure from your axle to the bump stop you then have an accurate reference point to work out what you want or need to do
Front of my '98 V8 D1 looks low, rear looks about right. Has done about 200k mostly road miles.
I'm about to replace shocks (Procomp) and suspension bushes and I'm wondering if it needs new front springs. So if required I'ld like the new springs on hand before I start to save going in twice.
Is there a ride height measurement you can take to save removing the springs to measure free length ?
FWIW there's about 50mm height gap between the top of the tyre and edge of the wheel arch.
TIA

Nobody has an indication of as new ride height ?
Been through the manual bu can't find any clues there.
Can't help with ride height but how about this for spring length.

I did a post about a year ago with difference spring lift measurements. I think from standard the hight from the axle centre to the guard lip is 470mm

I think (and I never trust my memory) that in standard form the gap between the bump stop and axle is 50mm. It's been 17 years since mine had standard springs in it so the grey matter is getting a bit vauge. I will have a look at my service manual and see if it shows anything for you.
Dont be to scared to lift it a bit, ARB do a 38mm, which in old terms is a 1 1/2" lift which doesnt affect the steering but makes a vast improvement to it's handling.
The rears probably will last longer than the front as the are carrying much less weight than the front; but as springs aren't that expensive (relavtively speaking) and you are replacing the shockies anyway I would be considering doing the lot as a package, as miss matched springs will effect the ride characteristics.
Is there no one out there with a standard suspension in their disco to measure the bump axle height?
Thanks for the replys - spent the afternoon fitting new shocks on the front but time meant no opportunity to take the springs out of the spring compressors and measure free length.
Once it was all back together I did check front ride height - gap to the tip of the bump stops is around 50mm but centre of axle to lip of the front guard is about 450mm so possibly around 20mm low.
For now I'll live with it until I've moved house and changed all the bushings - some are loose enough to unbolt and push out with fingers.
Thanks for the assistance.
