    Ignition key problem

    G,day.
The key and barrel on my 92 V8i D1 is wearing out.
It is getting harder to turn the switch sometimes, I have to jiggle it about
for some minutes before I can get it to turn.
Any idea where I can get a new barrel or complete ignition switch ?

    Tar.

I recall a few threads in the past about this same problem so there might be some sources for replacements in those.

I put a bit of graphite powder in mine and it was still working OK a couple of years later when I sold it.

Try the graphite powder first but if it doesn't work, remove the lock & take it to a locksmith who can strip it down & clean it out. That way you keep your original key to match the doors.

Moved to the D1 section too.

    Thanks, I will try it.
I was hoping that I might be able to get a complete switch etc. from overseas or somewhere.
Of course I could just put a tumbler switch in and push button starter
button after removing the steering lock.
Might end up doing that as a last resort.

Should be plenty of places to buy from if it comes to that.
About 25 quid in the UK from LRSeries etc. Probably P/N STC981 but you'll need to confirm that....

    Thanks Steve.
The sort of info that I was looking for.
I will check that out tomorrow.

    Tar all.
