Seem to recall this has been posted on here quite a few times.
Problem appears to be caused by electrical interference from local equipment TV masts, 2 way radio etc. Someone even found it was caused by electronic scanners/doors in a nearby Chemist Shop in front of the parking space.
Here in Adelaide, it seems to be caused by the close proximity to 3 x TV transmitters (7,9 & 2) on Mount Lofty & TELSTRA microwave equipment on Mount Bonython as well as a remote Adelaide airport radar transmitter close by.
The RAA have signs in the Lofty car park advising owners to lock & unlock the car with the key as it appears they get plenty of call outs for this problem.
Try replacing the battery.
Good Luck.

I have a cyclops immobilser fitted in my 95 300tdi disco, car locks and unlocks fine when using the button, but then sometimes it will lock the doors automatically, or set the alarm automatically, specially when unloading loading at a camp site, so when you least expect it and the doors are unlocked, you have turned the alarm off, you open up a door and the alarm screams its head off, then you stand there for what seems like an eternity, pressing the button to turn the alarm off, or you are doing something with the car and it locks all the doors without any warning thus locking me out, really has a mind of its own, any ideas? do 95 discos have a factory alarm fitted? could the cyclops be interfering with factory alarm,
my missus is ready to burn the thing to the ground, off course we cant have this happening to such a fine vehicle.
PLEASE HELP ME
thanks

I seem to recall they were an Optional Extra like most things at that time. TDi, Four doors, & maybe some other things.
Have never seen one, but I read where an LR alarm component is fitted in that little panel near the Rear Vision Mirror (movement sensor or some such). Also there could be a "fridge door" type switch near the bonnet lock area.

immobiliser
hi genodero, I had the same problem for about one year, I went a few electrician and no one give a solutions. to make this short at the end I did my self. I took of the ECU AMR 4885 is located pasenger side under the glove box. I get this part from four wheel drives in Blackburn Victoria, and took this to Lance dixon land rover dealer Doncaster Victoria, and they replace and setting in 30 minutes, and I can open and close anywhere, without any problem. works brillant for me.
note: my discovery is model diesel 96 and I think is the same as yours.. The ECU is green color. and I hope this can fix yours...regards Carlos...

Remote problem
I have been trying to buy a cheap spare remote.
My 95 Disco TDI has a two button remote for the factory fitted alarm, immobiliser, central locking.
I assume that all 1995 models had some form of radio frequency remote locking or immobilisation provided?
The remotes are very expensive at about $170. They are much cheaper to buy in the UK but the frequencies are different in different countries so you need to get the right one. 315MHz in Australia I am informed.
Some companies advertise what looks like a genuine remote for about $15, but they often don't tell you it's just the empty case (so watch out for this).
You also need a programming dongle to plug into the vehicle during programming according to a UK company that repairs them.
I am trying to find out if any after-market products exist and if any universal remotes will work (providing you already have one remote which works). (I don't like being ripped off!)
Note: I found that my working remote gets intermittant when the battery gets low.
This is probably not much help for you, but I cannot see any other thread discussing the issue in Australia.

I bought a remote for my 95 Disco a few years ago and there was no dongle. There is a special sequence to connect it to your Disco.I cant remember exactly what it was but it only took about a minute to do.You had to have the bonnet open and hold the alarm switch down and then close the central locking all while holding it down. Its in the Rave manual anyway i think.
