Thread: Screaming drive belt

3.9i D1 - I changed the drive belt and the tensioner, but the squealing continues. New water pump, not the viscous coupling or a/c. Everything seems fine, but the noise. Tried "belt grip". lasts 15 minutes.

2nd this, and once you have a new belt also buy a can of brake cleaner/degreaser and get as much of that "belt grip" you can, especially if it is the Preston one.....horrible stuff....

You will also find if you try a shot of CRC that the squeal goes away for a couple of mins too, if that is the case then belt definately too long.
