ok cool, auto bleeped my swears.
another question, i bought some diff guards, and they seem very very tight. any tips for getting them on? they are the round types, that bolt on the front of the diff.
access for the rear one also seems to be blocked by the fuel tank..
also, anyone else have trouble finding roof racks? it looks like i'll have to spend actual money to buy one.

What do you mean by the compressor "wouldn't run it properly"? Runs, but xx? Doesn't run at all?
No idea on diff guards sorry.
I built my own roof rack. :D

I think I have the same type as your diff guards, I opened them up as much as possible and used a heavy rubber mallet to work them onto the housing.
Make sure you tighten the bolts well as you don't want them vibrating off
With the rear one maybe jack the body up so you get some clearance.
Cheers.

-Justin: the compressor chugged slowly, but wouldn't actually compress any air... so yeah, runs but xx'ed.
-Goat: good idea re jacking (and the tightening of bolts:))

Our dual battery controller is also on the auxiliary side and connects the two batteries with no problems at all.
-
Mine's also on the aux side.
Do you have a multi meter to check the battery voltage?
Check voltage with the vehicle off for the battery charge level.
Check voltage while running compressor.
Then start the vehicle and check again to see if you're getting charge.
-
In short, it sounds like it needs putting on a trickle charger for 24-48 hours to see if you can revive the battery.
-
Judo!
just had the same thought, had the charger on both batteries over the last few days, will post meter levels soon...

well, haven't got round to posting these meter readings yet, but i'm back working on her this week.
first job: air con. it's been really hot lately, and hard work drivin around without air con. ( i know, i'm a big girl's blouse)
when the PAS pump broke, one of the results of the exploding belts was the wires and housing shearing off the clutch coil off the air con compressor, and after 2 attempts at resoldering wires to it, and no joy, i started looking for a new clutch coil. was quoted $150, not too bad i guess, but i just spent all my money on a camper trailer, so i'm going to have one more crack at fixing the original coil, and see how we go.
second job: passenger window. since i replaced the glass this has been a bit funny. now i've bent the regulator, so i need another one of these. i paid about $75 for the rear door one when i took it over the pits, so i should be OK getting this done.
third job: EGT. had the probe here for ages, auber guage getting here soon, have drilled out an EGR blanking plate, if only i could find where i put the handle for the tapping bit, grrrr.
In other news, got roof racks and a camper trailer. woohoo!

pic of how she looks now.
