    Cleaning soot off injectors/glow plugs??

    Hi all,
I am in the midst of replacing the Head on my 300Tdi with a Turner Performance Head after one of the joins in a (now apparant) aftermarket bottom radiator hose let go last week and after withdrawing the injectors, there is a bit of soot on both the injectors and Glow plugs. Do I bother to wire brush it off or just leave it alone.. I'm just worried I may inadventantly clog one of the nozzels or if it may damage the injector/glow plug somehow if I attack it with a wire brush.

Moral of the story here is to only use the genuine radiator hoses...

I cleaned mine (both injectors and glow plugs) with a bit of kerosene and an emerald cloth - would personally not attack them with a wire brush....

But also depending on how old yours are - I believe Paddocks sell injectors for around $40ish and glow plugs for less than $10.

I just install a new set of injectors from paddocks on my 97 300tdi with 275K. Definitely my best purchase to date. $400 AUD.

How do you know if your injectors need replacing? Are there specific symptoms?

    Cheers
