I have just ordered my second unit, one for each land rover now. They are definitely good insurance. I got the dual sensor unit though, measures engine temp as well.
1st day after getting my Disco back on the road after replacing the head after a hose let go, the advice of this forum has once again saved me.. I held off on the last task of filling the coolant whilst awaiting delivery of the engine saver kit from Dave which arrived yesterday and was fitted last night. Today, the head of the little brass coolant drain plug (the one in the side of the block) sheared off whilst driving.. thankfully a blazing red LED and screeching buzzer alerted me before any damage was done!!
I thought that I had covered all avenues for coolant loss but this one came out of left field!! I don't understand why this plug has a hollow shaft? Surely not for weight saving - but it makes a perfect outlet for coolant when the head snaps off! I can only assume that I may of over-tightened it but something to be aware of...
Thanks again to the forum for the the emphatic recommendation for the fitment of this marvelous engine saver device!
(BTW - I have no affilliation with Dave's IT Shop)

What unit are you both referring to? And where did you buy it?
Low Water Alarm Sensor
You can PM Davy on this site.

Great to hear, I know my car has one and hopefully I'll never ever have to use it![]()
It's under the Haydn banner: http://www.coolantalarm.co.uk/shop/i...iewCat&catId=9
I think Haydn in the UK make the temp sensor and combine it with the low coolant alarm from Davy.
I think you can PM Davy and order the combo direct through him.
I thought about the dual sensor but I really didn't see the need for the digital readout - I would prefer an analogue style of guage if at all (just my preference)
I just wanted to know when things were going wrong and the LED & Buzzer worked a treat and is pretty inobtrusive when it's not needed. I have the LED mounted within one of the switch blanks on the binnacle on the same side as the temp guage so it kind of draws you eye when it goes off!
