What about these ones
eBay: Auber Instruments
I was going to get two, one head or water and one for EGT and you can program it to alarm when it reaches a preset temp.

Hi All,I have just been checking on ebay for egt gauge for my Discovery 300 tdi.I found one listed at $152+$10 postage from an organisation called CRISPMODS, listed as follows EGT PYRO GAUGE suit Turbo Diesel Nissan Patrol and Toyota L'cruiser, I assume it would suit Land Rover Turbo as well.My query is, has anyone had any dealings with these people and are their products reliable.I don't want to waste my cash on something that is rubbishRegards lucky lozza.

+1 agree on the auberins gauge. very good quality and have had no problems.
that said the $30 Chinese gauges look to be very similar in quality and operation (only recently installed a Chinese one - so wait for the report on that. seems to have been going strong for the last 2 months though!)
the only thing that I would like to have is a dual stage output. ie an output at 600deg for water injection etc, and then a warning buzzer at 700deg or so...
they may even make one by now (manual indicated that it was possible on some models) but wasn't available at the time.
David.
Hi Jarrods,Bee-utey and Setsuna, thanks for your input,I will be cheking your info out although they seem very inexspensive. My neighbor who is an ex truckie said he had heard good reports about unit called "Thermoguard"he said he thought they were made in South Australia any knowledge on these? I got them up on line, and they actually show one fitted to a 300tdi in their ad but quite expensive to buy. Thanks again lucky lozza
Hi lucky lozza,
I spent days searching the net for a suitable EGT kit, best I could find for quality and price (relative to what’s available locally) was the Auber Instruments Kit with sealed tip. About $110AUD to my door. I got the green display...matches the rest of the dash.
Glad I got it because the previous owner had turned up the pump that much that I was getting EGT >800 under load!
Depends what you value. Yes Thermoguard might be more expensive than the imports, but they offer a lot of help and support with setup and it is a good product. Also offer custom fittings for the Rover diesels and are well proven. The Thermoguard diesel tuning pdf has been circulating around Aulro for ages, and its probably what you might refer to if you buy a cheap one. The Thermoguard EGT I installed last year has been working great. No I don't work for the company, just like to support local companies with good products where possible - (much like the discussion recently around locking diffs).
Fair point.... if the product is similar I'll ususally go for the cheaper version, each to their own.
Re locking diffs, will be ordering one for the rear from china for $500 as I can't/don't want to spend 2K for one from here. Granted the quality may not be the same but how can you compete with the labor rate.
