Thought of the mudpod?
http://www.aulro.com/afvb/showthread...51#post1609351
Hi all,
As the title suggests, I am after your facts, photo's, thoughts on the best place to mount 2 or 3 gauges to monitor pyro, boost and something else yet to be determined.
Having sold my modified D2 late last year I have just brought dad's one owner 1998 Tdi manual with 230kms and a blown head.
The car is still at the mechanics yet to be diagnosed and am trying to organise all the gauges etc for him to fit at the same time as the rebuild.
Ideally it would be nice to have them in a pillar pod but I think the disco's pillars are too narrow for the generic eBay offerings. Another thought is to make a gauge pod out of mdf and have it trimmed to match the dash ( any ideas of trimming costs?). Has anyone tried fibreglassing at home?
I am after something that is nice and neat.
Thanks in advance.
Adam
Thought of the mudpod?

I have looked at the mud pods as an option, I still like the idea of being able to use the flatest part of the dash for storage when travelling ( actually I lie, the wife dumps everything there).
i have a '95 disco 300TDi and i mounted a mechanical oil pressure gauge and a voltmeter in separate pods on either side of the instrument binnacle i will try to get photos later. i am also looking at the latest cheap digital pyros on ebay etc that would most probably fit on the steering shroud in front of me
Dash pod on my '94 300tdi, gauges for pyro, boost, engine temp & cb. Not properly secured at the moment and has a tendency to bounce out on steep bumpy hill climbs, so have to be on the ball ready to catch it when it does.![]()
That pod looks good because it still gives you a "shelf". A couple of questions; where did you get it from? If you don't mind me asking the rough purchase price? And how deep is the pod? Does it go all the way back to the windscreen?
Thanks Bigcarle, some photos would be good. One of my ideas is to fibreglass two gauge pods onto either side of the instrument binnacle the have it trim. It may be a bit boy racer though.....i have a '95 disco 300TDi and i mounted a mechanical oil pressure gauge and a voltmeter in separate pods on either side of the instrument binnacle i will try to get photos later. i am also looking at the latest cheap digital pyros on ebay etc that would most probably fit on the steering shroud in front of me

Hi
I've been looking for a bash console for my car, been thinking of making my own in fiberglass but I've also been looking at these two:

Discovery / Range Rover Console
I like the first one more but thats just me
(oops. Got the link all weird. Corrected now)

Sven_040, I got mine from the retail agent for the department of the interior here in Vic. Lemur's post contains the link. Price does not appear to have changed, from memory and this is going back a few years, I paid around the $300-350. Approx dimensions W:415 mm D:260 H:100. Pretty straight forward to install, easier if your dash isn't stuffed like mine.![]()
Wow! I really had no idea it would cost that much.... I think it is the best so far. But Because I'm cheap and haven't got anything better to do I might try and make something like that.
You wouldn't happen to have a picture of the mounting system/base of the unit by any chance?
No I don't sorry. Wouldn't be too difficult to make one up though to suit whatever style pod you make.
