Thread: Alternator off 300tdi to v8?

i think my altinator has died. battery light on dash is on and the tacko has stopped working.
i have been offered an altinator that is the same brand and off the same model year as mine but the other is off a 300tdi and mine is a petrol.
would it fit mine?
how do i check to se if my altinator is realy stuffed?

Likely your alternator needs pulling apart and the brushes replaced. What year V8 is it? Early models can be easily adapted to use Bosch alternators, visit an auto elec shop to find a suitable one. Tacho reading relates to the pulley size.
