    Suspension Flex

    Hi All,

what kind of flex or articulation can you get out of a Discovery1 Suspension set up. I'm looking at setting up my Disco with 2 or 3inchs of lift but want max travel.

I want the bump stops to limit upward travel and shock extended length to limit downwards travel. can this be done?

Flexy coils!!! that is awesome! exactly what i was looking for thank you I've been trawling through so much stuff but still miss the good toys!

I had my disco in the dirt today playing around It is how I bought it. looking at whats left of the tags on the springs its running Toughdog springs designed for a bar and winch (which I have) up front and the HD springs in the rear. which explains the bumpstops not been touched when all crossed up.... well kinda crossed up. short ome shocks up front and massive overkill Toughdog Ralphs in the back.... Its a bitsa.

Discos are new to me, the old toy was a Modded Jimny and it flexed great. looking under the Disco it should be able to flex better.

Nicho- watching your new build, its looking good, I have small cracks in my rear bodymounts too will be repairing them soon

Gav, check out an old buid thread of mine here

    Shorty's Disco (Tassie)

its about getting the right shock length and dislocation cones for rear downward travel and correct bump stop lengths for compression.

I am buildign a D1 tourer at the moment so flex isnt my game any more

    good luck mate

check out www.x-eng.co.uk/ they have a very interesting take on flex - in my opinion better than dislocating cones.

Also if you are going to be using your bump stops regularly google hydralic bump stops; my brother just fitted 4" ones to his suzuki and raves about then

After doing research on flex over the last couple of years it would appear that 16" of travel is the max without going to big dollars - mind you it is all relative as that is also damned expensive
