Alternatives to carpet
Having soaked the carpets of the Disco (again) on Saturday in a Toolangi bog hole, does anyone have views on alternatives? I'm not keen on loose rubber mats and would like some heat and sound control. Is there a special paint that wears well, or does Clark Rubber or similar have a product that works?
Thanks everyone.

I had the same problem with my last D1.
I ended up modifying the carpet and underlay to make it easily removed. To do this, I removed the front and rear carpets and then cut it into 2 pieces, obviously one for the drivers side and one for the passenger side. The front carpet is linked with pieces that go under the console. if you cut them there, they still tuck up under the edge of the centre console and then when you screw the door edge back under the black door strip, they dont move anywhere.
In the back, I just cut it around the back of the front seats and around the back of the centre console, and it is then easily removed.
Then when you get water through the cab, you just pull them out, takes about 5 mins and hose the carpets out. You can then also clean the body wells to make sure all the mud and water is out. The carpet will retain its moulded shape, I had no problems with that, and then when they are dry, just refit them.
The same thing has to be done with the thick underlay.
Its amazing how loud it is inside the cabin when they are out drying at home
but you can hear the muddies and V8 easier
I have had thin rubber in an old Rangie I had, and while it is easy to clean down, you never get the water out from under them properly and its not as quiet in the cab as doing the above method.
