    Airflow Snorkels, any good?

    Hi

After getting my 300tdi going, post drowning, my thoughts have turned to preventative maintenance. Has anyone used these airflow snorkels, are they ok, price seems a lot better than safari, but is that reasonable aswell, either way i want a snorkel, just looking for bang for buck, after all it was only a 3 grand car.

    Cheers
    Will

Bang for buck I cant complain. Saved me on the Balfour track.

All I can say is measure up yourself before cutting as their template was off when I did mine. Luckily I measured twice cut once.

wonder what they are like after a couple of years of UV exposure?
And if they do perish and you were to fit a safari later would the holes line up?
There are also ones on ebay, that are chinese made and one seller says they refinish them in Australia and put a UV coating on them. If they were so good, then why have to refinish them? Surely fresh from the factory should be sellable.

As you say they can be refinished and have a UV coating out on, surely this can be done every few years, like when the car gets buffed. The airflow will be the cheapest, even safari from the UK will cost a fair bit more. So i think i'll go with it, should be okay.

Airflow are good. I have had one I fitted a couple of years ago to the TDI - Still looks the same. The air box configuration is especially good as it easily allows room for a second battery, maybe the Safari do too but this was a positive for me with the Airflow. Very small negative - unless they have adjusted the shape, the front edge doesn't follow the curve of the panel as well as it should, but this is only a small thing and doesn't affect the way it works. As Rezley said, check the measurements against the template.

Airflow are bottom of the range. They are smaller in design and smaller walled plastic. and they dont fit as nice as the safari.

But they are also alot cheaper, and when you just want a snorkel that works, that doesnt look like you have made it from plumbing pipe, Then it would work perfectly fine.
