    disco Rear diff clunking sound?

Hey all my name is Dylan and i have recently purchased a 3.5l v8 disco 1, i just put 33"s under it and tryed a rock step and failed as i was just bouncing up and down and herd a something brake, no every time i turn and drive it makes a fairly loud clunking sound comes from the rear diff, my mate had the same problem with his range rover and turned out it was the front uni joint on the drive shaft, i checked my front and rear uni joints and they seem to have no play or movement so im baffled ?

drain the oil from the rear diff and look at what comes out.
then probe around in the drain hole with your finger.
you might get it cut by sharp steel, so do it gently.
my guess is that you have brocken the cluster gears or the pin.

time for a locker and decent axles.
putting big tyres on causes problems without strengthening the drive train.

bouncing wheelspin causes unreal drive train damage,
tread gently try just puttering through.

Had a clunk like this in my RRC years ago, turned out to be a sheared axle shaft, near the diff. Took ages to work out, only when I had no traction in the snow (when I lived in the US) that I realized that it was axle / diff related. By the time time I got around to fixing it the break had mushroomed and was difficult to remove the axle. Fix it sooner than later, will be much easier. Good Luck
