    disco engine options....

    hi guys, new one here.
Ive been given a disco with the tdi motor. Its been cooked and has been sitting with a pot full of coolant for 5 months so probably in need of a new donk... do i have to stick with the tdi? or will the v8 fit? or any other motors? all ideas appreciated!

Erm, everything fits, eventually. How big's your hammer? What's your budget? A replacement 300tdi would be my first choice. A V8 would require engine mounts to be rewelded on the chassis, another gearbox and engineer's reports.

Maybe you should start with seeing if you can get the piston out, order a new head and pistons from the UK, rebuild it. Then it'll last for years and years.
